Welcome

You are invited to share with me the Joy there is in creating Art. I mean the "I can do it" and "it's fun" and "it's beautiful" kind of art, whether it is "museum quality" or not. Here you will find some of what I like to do and, I hope, share some of your joy, too.

Welcome to my blog, Rae Ann.

Christmas

It's been such a long time since I've been able to blog.  Now that all the Christmas stuff is ready I have a minute to show some cards.
I love making box cards.  This one is made from bits from different cartridges and a stamp.  The girl is from a Quilted Christmas, the tree from (I think) Create a Critter, and the gifts from two different places that I don't remember. The cat is from an Ai cat set.

I think this card is a perfect summary of Christmas so I am entering it in the Fantabulous Cricut challenge, Christmas.  Please visit the other entries.

Have a wonderful Christmas, everyone, and a very Happy New Year!

A Sweet Thank You

Back again.

This card is being entered in the Paper Play Sketches Challenge.

The strawberry was cut at 2 1/2 inches from the Cricut Preserves cartridge; the word "sweet" came from the Summer Celebrations cartridge (1").

Here's the sketch:

This is another of their sketch ideas that I really like.

Don't forget to visit the Paper Play Sketches blog to see all the inspiration there.

Thanks for visiting.

Summer Fun

Hello!

I have a card, today, that will be entered in 3 challenges.

This surfer dude was cut from Cricut's Fun in the Sun Cartridge.  I think I cut it at 3 1/4".

I am entering in the following challenges:
Bitten by the Bug 2 - Summer Fun
Shopping our Stash - Dude
Die Cuttin Divas - Sketch
The cut itself was perfect for the sketch.

As always, go to these blogs to appreciate the efforts of design team and challenge participants.  Take time to leave comments, too.  They are always appreciated.
Have a great day.

Christmas in July

Good day, everyone.

Today I have a card for 3 challenges.  For some reason I was thinking of a gingerbread house and decided to go for it.
Although I have the gingerbread lite cartridge I decided to use the Cricut Create a Critter 2 gingerbread house instead.  Both the house and gingerbread man were cut at 2 1/4".  I used clear glitter glue to add sparkle to the bowtie and to add 'sugar' to the gumdrops.

The 'happy holidays' stamp and the 'season's greetings' were from a bunch of little stamps my sister gave me when she retired from teaching.  I'm glad I looked through my stash.

The three challenges are:
Paper Play Sketches - Color challenge Yellow, Chocolate, and a deep green;
Die Cuttin' Divas - Anything Goes
Shopping Our Stash - You're So Sweet

As always, make sure you visit these blogs to see the design team's efforts as well as the work of those entering the challenges.  It's a great way to get inspiration.
Have a great day.

Inspired by a song - Tonight

Welcome.
I found an intriguing challenge; design a project based on a song.  At the same time, another challenge proposed a sketch that I knew would work with my idea.  Here's the result.
The song I selected was "Tonight" from West Side Story.  Here's the sketch:

I imagined the skyline (from Cricut's Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge) as a good substitute for the grass.  I like the idea of the moon with a halo.
At first I tried alcohol inks on the black paper but, of course, they didn't work.  It did put in some blotches that textured the sky.  The stars are the silver metallic medium for the alcohol inks.  I used the end of a toothpick to dab the dots on.  I'm quite pleased with how it turned out.

I'm entering this in the Paper Play Sketches challenge and the Cardz 4 Galz challenge.  Please, visit both these blogs to see the inspirations they contain.

Thanks for stopping by.

Another Birthday Card

Hi!
This is definitely a time for birthdays.  I've had a number of requests for cards.  This one is supposed to be in honor of the many times friends sip wine together.
Inside it says "You know, in wine years you would be vintage (but a very fine one).

I'm entering this in Bitten by the Bug 2, Birthday, and Cardz TV, Anything goes.
I used the Cricut cartridges, Simply Charmed and Create a Critter for the cuts.

Don't forget to visit these blogs and thanks for stopping by.

Happy Birthday to You

Hello, again.
I have a card that I'll be entering in two challenges.

I used the 'Happy Birthday' cut from Cricut's Paper Lace 2 cartridge, cut at 3 1/4", and the flower spray from Cricut's Cindy Loo cartridge, cut at 1 1/4".

I'm entering this in the Bitten by the Bug 2 challenge, Birthday, and the Shopping Our Stash challenge, anything Musical.

Please, visit both these blogs to see the inspiration from the design team as well as those who enter the challenge.

Thanks for stopping by.

More Birthday Cards for BBTB2

Hello, again.
At a recent Papercraft Show in this area I found the clock/watches embossing folder I've been looking for.  I thought it would be a great background for birthday (and other) cards.
I decided to use the Cricut Create a Friend characters.
I like to make more than one birthday card at a time, too, so I came up with these.

I think I found the balloons and gift cuts in the same cartridge.

I'm entering these in the Bitten by the Bug 2 Birthday challenge, also.
Make sure you visit the blog.  Get inspired by the designers and entrants.
Thanks for looking

A Birthday Dino Card

A friend asked me to make a birthday card for her great-nephew who is turning 1.  He's big into dinosaurs.
I made the card 5 x 7 which is larger than I usually make.  I used Cricut's Create a Critter for all the cuts except the candle, which came from Sweet Treats.

The theme at Bitten by the Bug 2 is Birthday so this is being entered.
Make sure you visit the blog to see designer's cards and other entries.  There is so much inspiration out there.

A Humorous Guy Card

Welcome back!
Today I have a card I will be entering in the Paper Play Sketches Color Challenge.

The color sketch requires a royal blue, a bright red, and an olive green ( my interpretation of the colors).
I just got a few Art Impressions Golden Oldies stamps; this is the first time I've used this one.  The car is from Cricut's Nifty 50's cartridge.  I think they go well together.

Graduation Cards

Welcome, again.

The theme at Bitten by the Bug 2 is graduation.  I decided to use the cute people on the Create a Friend cartridge for this challenge.  I made the guy and decided to do the girl, too.

The bodies were cut at 3 1/4" but with the shadow they end up being 4" high.  I used the George and Basic Shapes cartridge to cut stars at 1" and 1/2".  I do love the Create a Friend characters.

Make sure you visit Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the efforts of the design team and participants.

I appreciate your visit.

A Grad Tag With Fabric

Hi!  As my title suggests, I'll be entering several challenges today.
I cut the tag at 3" (double thickness) from the Cricut Picturesque cartridge.  The grad cap came from the Cricut Create a Friend cartridge (I set the cap and gown at 4" and was able to stop the cut because the cap was cut first).  The yellow stars were cut at 1/2" from the George and Basic Shapes cartridge.  I just rolled a piece of paper and made the scroll.  I hand-made the rosette.

You can't see it here but I fringed the top and bottom of the blue fabric with the big star on it.  The challenge at Shopping Our Stash is to include fabric and I've had this piece around for ages.

The challenge at Bitten by the Bug 2 is Graduation.  The challenge at Die Cuttin' Divas is tags.
I started with the fabric and designed the rest so I could enter all three.

A happy side comment--I won the Cricut Air machine prize in the Fantabulous Cricut #300 Blog Hop.  I am thrilled!!!

Be sure to visit each of these blogs to see what everyone has done.  It takes a lot of work and coordinating to keep these challenges going and they need to be appreciated.

Thanks for stopping by.

Animals--the theme at FCCB

Welcome!
I sat and mentally scanned my cartridges for animals I could use.  I decided to go with something I never used before--and did it come out Cute!!
These cuties are on the Mickey and Friends cartridge.  All of these cuts came from there.
The sky background is a megamount stamp from Impression Obsession.
Dale (standing) was cut at 3".  I had to experiment with cuts to get Chip in the same proportion; he was cut at 2 3/4".  The acorns were cut at 1/2" as were the clumps of grass.  I think the tree was cut at 3 1/4" and I cut off the side.
This is being entered in the Fantabulous Cricut Blog Challenge where the current theme is animals.

I love how this turned out; I really get a "Have a great day" feel from it.  I hope you do, too.
Make sure you go to the challenge to see the designers' inspiration-- and all the other entries, too.

Have a great day.

Have a Pawsome Day

It's great to be back into card-making.  I wasn't up to it for quite a while and now I'm having fun.  I decided to try making some cat and dog lover cards.
This card will be entered into 3 challenges.
The dog was cut from Cricut's Create a Critter at 2 1/4".  The scalloped circle was cut from Cricut's Straight From the Nest at 3" and 3 1/4".

Pile It On - animal
Cardz TV - anything goes
Shopping our Stash - use buttons  This one is great for me; I forget about all the buttons I have and what nice embellishments they can be.

Please visit these blogs and see the work of the designers and participants.  But, before you go, here are 2 other cards I did in the same way:

Thanks for visiting.  Have a great day.

A Mother's Day Card for BBTB2

Hello!  Here's another Mother's Day card:
A pretty spring scene speaks to me of Mother's Day and I just got the cartridge that could create it.

I just bought the Cricut Lite cartridge, Bloom.  I don't know why I missed this one for so long.  The cuts on it are wonderful.  Both the tree and the gate-fence with flowers comes from Bloom.
The cloud background is a Megamount stamp from Impression Obsession.  It creates a wonderful cloudy sky.
The tiny sentiment is from a set of 52 stamps called Tiny Tag Sentiments from Our Daily Bread Stamps.  It's a wonderful collection;  I think the only 2 events missing are Mother's Day and Father's Day so I substituted the "love always" sentiment.

It's almost the end of this challenge so take a quick look at Bitten By The Bug 2 to see the designers' samples and the other entries.

Thanks for looking.
Happy Creating,

Another Mother's Day Card

Welcome back.  This card was made to combine the Fantabulous Cricut challenge (a Mother's Day card) and the sketch at Die Cuttin' Divas.

I thought of this lovely lady from Teddy Bear Parade as soon as I heard the phrase 'Mother's Day.'
I really like this sketch; it's so simple and creates a beautiful setting.

A Mother's Day Card at Fantabulous Cricut

Good Day!
Fantabulous Cricut Challenge has the theme Mother's Day.  Instead of the usual flowery card I decided to make one that thanked Mom for all she's done.  The "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment is inside.
I used the cricut Suburbia cartridge for most of the card: the 2 backgrounds (for bowl and vacuum) were cut from the Formal Occasion cartridge.

Thanks for stopping by.  Make sure you go to Fantabulous Cricut to see the designers offerings (and visit the blog hop) as well as other entries in this challenge.
Have a great day.

Another Bug for BBTB2

Hello, again.
I just realized I made another Create a Critter card that fits this challenge--"Busy Bees, Butterflies and Bugs."  I made it because I found a stamp that I had forgotten I had.
I think the background shape was from the Formal Occasion cartridge.  Create a Critter (and Create a Critter 2) have such cute animal cuts in them.
Be sure to go to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the designers projects and the other entries in the challenge.  Again, thanks for stopping by.

A Bee for BBTB2

Welcome!  The theme at Bitten by the Bug 2 this week is "Busy Bees, Butterflies, and Bugs."  I used one of my favorite little animals from the Create a Critter Cartridge to make this card.
The inside reads "Have a Bee-utiful Day!"
Please, go to Bitten by the Bug 2 to see the projects made by the designers and other participants in the challenge.
Thanks for stopping by.

A Spring Flower Card

Hello!  I'm here with a spring flower card for 2 challenges:  BBTB2, and Fantabulous Cricut.
I've had the Spring Cottage cartridge for a long time but I've seldom used it.  It was sight-seeing in Pinterest that reminded me of the many great cuts in this Lite cartridge.  The hyacinth was perfect for the spring challenge.
I cut the hyacinth at 4 1/2 inches.  I cut foam tape into tiny pieces to prop up the top layer.  I think the added dimension to the look enhanced it a lot.
Please visit Bitten by the Bug 2 and Fantabulous Cricut to see design team examples and other entries.
Thank you for stopping by.  Until the next time ...
Happy creating!

Help! Can't edit my Layout

Hello.  Is there anyone who can give me pointers on editing my layout.  I select design; I select layout.  All I see is Favicon and Navbar.  I can't move any lower to move the right column elements around like I want to.  I haven't tried to do anything like this since before they changed the blogger.  I miss how easy it was to make changes and to see the sites I followed.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

The Beautiful Rose at Shopping Our Stash

I think this card fits in very well with the Shopping Our Stash challenge. The paper background was a piece cut out from old Christmas paper.  I'm looking at my paper stash in different ways to see how I can make use of papers that have been sitting around.  This one had a beautiful poinsettia picture down the side that I don't use in my cards but this other area is so elegant.
I made use of paper scraps for this one, too.
Be sure to visit Shopping our Stash to see the other entries in this challenge.
It's so good to be back and doing Happy Creating.

A Sweet Birthday Box for BBTB2

Hello, again.  It's been a long time.  I haven't been blogging but I have been doing a lot of card making.  I decided it's time to enter some challenges again.  This card is being entered in BBTB2, Die Cuttin' Divas, and Paper Play Sketches.

Cartridges used were:
All Occasion Box Cards for the navy blue base, cut at 5 1/2 "; stars cut from sh-F4-9.
Create A Friend, cut at 2 1/2", and modified from the 'teacher' figure;
Sweet Treats, for the ice cream, cut at 3", the cake cut at 1 3/4" and the cake slices on the side flaps also cut at 1 3/4";
Straight from the Nest,  for the presents border (button 40, F4) which is used on the bottom, three sides.
The tiny sentiment, "for my sweet friend" is from a set of stamps called Tiny Tag Sentiments from Our Daily Bread.  The "sweet birthday wishes" sentiment was typed on the computer.

At Bitten by the Bug 2 the theme is "Sweet."
At Die Cuttin' Divas the theme is a shaped card.
At Paper Play Sketches there is a color challenge: Navy Blue, White, and Brown.

Please, visit these sites to see what other entrants and design teams have done.

Putting together a post took a while because I am very rusty at doing it--but I succeeded.
Thank you for stopping by.
