Welcome

You are invited to share with me the Joy there is in creating Art. I mean the "I can do it" and "it's fun" and "it's beautiful" kind of art, whether it is "museum quality" or not. Here you will find some of what I like to do and, I hope, share some of your joy, too.

Welcome to my blog, Rae Ann.

Red Carpet Studio Pretty in Pink Challenge

It's been a long time since I've entered a challenge but I knew right away the image I wanted to use for this one.

Isn't she adorable.  She's a Sherri Baldy image and she seems just right for this challenge.  To me, this image shouts out 'taking care of yourself' which I think is very appropriate for a challenge honoring Breast Cancer awareness.

My Besties Challenge - Punches and/or Dies

I finally got some time to make cards for fun and challenges.  Here's the one I made with a Sherri Baldy image.

The pink edging at the top and bottom was made with an edge punch.  The flowers were also made with a punch and the swirls were made with a die.
I like this image; she's a cutie.

Cherry Blossom by Sherri Baldy Art

Hello!  I'm squeezing under the wire with this one.  Since I bought this one I won the gift certificate given by the Hoosier Stamper and was able to get 8 more Sherri Baldy digis.  I'm having fun!!!

The Besties Challenge #7 requires 2 kinds of patterned paper.  Originally there was a patterned paper under Cherry Blossom but she was just the right size to cover it up.  Then, I realized that I used patterned papers in the embellishments, too.  The branches on the sides (I think of them as Japanese maple) are made from a patterned woodgrain paper and the leaves are also from a red pattern I found in my stash.  The Kanji word for Beauty (cut from Cricut's Pagoda cartridge) is also from patterned paper.  I colored her with distress markers.  Here she is:

I think she's a sweetheart.

Come and Get It Challenge - Playing in the Water

I had just finished coloring this image the night before the challenge was posted.  I had wondered what kind of challenge it would fit in.  Surprise!

What better way to 'play in water' than in a relaxing bubble bath.  The image is from Sherri Baldy, watercolored with distress markers. The black and white phony tile floor is actually the only decorative duct tape I have.  It works great for things like this.  All the embellishments are bargain bin items from my stash.  I printed "ooh" from cricut's Forever Young.
I hope you like it; it was fun to do.

Make sure to stop by at Come and Get It Challenges to see all the entries in the Playing in the Water challenge.

A Blue Angel

Hello, everyone.  I'm having fun learning (by trial and error) how to color digis.  This Sherri Baldy angel is so cute.  I made the background and embellishments more simple because I thought she should be the focus.  This seems to be my style - somewhere in-between 'clean and simple' and 'chunky'.  Here she is:

Her wings were edged with a light blue and then Diamond stickles were added.  They look great.  On the edge of her skirt I used a yellow glitter pen.  The patterned papers are from from current favorite pack from Recollections, Paisley and Damask.  The decorative corner for the inside is from cricut's picturesque.  The stamp was purchased at Michaels (I think).

I'm entering this in the following challenges.  Click on the name of the challenge to see all the entries.

A Mermaid's Birthday Wish

Wow, this is my 3rd post for today.  That's what I get for working on several things at the same time.

As I mentioned in my other post, I've been experimenting with distress markers as watercolors. That was fun to do with this mermaid from Sherri Baldy. The little Happy Birthday stamp I got at our annual stamp show here last year.

I just bought some Cottonelle toilet paper and it has this interesting texture and I wondered if it would look good as seaweed.  It's not what I hoped for (the cricut couldn't cut it for one thing) and my cutting could have been better.  But, I slid a distress ink pad over it and got an interesting look.  I used the same thing in the shell outline.  Then, I found pieces in my 'bits of flowers' stash and some pearls from my beading supplies and added them. Talk about shopping your stash - this was fun!

I'm entering this in Shopping Our Stash (They say it's your birthday) and Try it on Tuesday (It's all in the eyes) because of these big, beautiful eyes.
