Welcome

You are invited to share with me the Joy there is in creating Art. I mean the "I can do it" and "it's fun" and "it's beautiful" kind of art, whether it is "museum quality" or not. Here you will find some of what I like to do and, I hope, share some of your joy, too.

Welcome to my blog, Rae Ann.

Happy St. Patrick's Day / Exploring Cricut

Hello!  Of course I HAD to do a St. Patrick's something since today's the day.  This weekend was the Heirloom rubber stamping and paper arts festival that comes once a year.  They always have an ATC (Artist Trading Card) contest; this time the theme is "Luck of the Irish".  So, that's my project, an ATC - which is a card that is 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches, like a baseball card.  I used Simply Charmed.
Sorry if it's a little fuzzy.  The print is the definition of luck - n. forturne, good.
I cut the rainbow and pot of gold at 2 1/2 inches, then cut off the rainbos and turned it sideways to go where I wanted it to go.  I used the real size 1 inch to make the pot for the end of the rainbos.  The leprachaun was cut at 2 !/2 inches also.
I used a sandcastle stamp I have and cut out just enough of it to create a castle in the background.  I have 3 little pieces of bling to be the gold in the pot.  I had fun making this.

I hope you all enjoy your day.  Please, keep visiting Exploring Cricut and our great design team throughout the week.
Happy creating.

Some Cards and ATC's

Wow! It seems like such a long time since I've posted. How does so much fit into so few days?
I finally had a chance to catch up with things I need for a Yahoo group swap that I'm in.  Here's a look:
This swap is anything with butterflies on it.  I made good use of my cricut , Picturesque and Phrases, to create this one.
This next card needed to use watercolors on it.  I rubbed distress inks on a sheet of plastic and used them as watercolors with a wet brush.
And, last but not least, these ATC's are based on a favorite quote as a focus:
If felt good to be working on these.
Thanks for stopping by.

New projects for Paperfollies

I've joined the Yahoo group, Paperfollies, and I've been very busy.  They do a variety of very clever projects in the same styles used on inchies:  ATC's, cards, altered art, etc.  Here are some of my recent masterpieces.

House - 5x7 - Paperfollies project May 2011
This house was a lot of fun to do.  I created a "wordle" on line related to the types of art I do.  My face is peeking through the window and my cat is below it, in the corner.  The decorative circle is a painted button.

This project, called Foil Mail, was fun, too.  I hadn't seen this technique in a long time.

I don't usually make cards so it was a nice change to give it a try.

For the mosaic challenge I tried to use a technique called faux-mosaic that I learned about on-line.  It didn't come out like the example but I like the look.  It reminds me of mosaics found at ancient sites, like Pompeii.

And last, but not least, the ATC's - a pair of Graffitti and a pair of Zetti style.

I HAVE been busy --- HAVING FUN!
