Welcome

You are invited to share with me the Joy there is in creating Art. I mean the "I can do it" and "it's fun" and "it's beautiful" kind of art, whether it is "museum quality" or not. Here you will find some of what I like to do and, I hope, share some of your joy, too.

Welcome to my blog, Rae Ann.

It's My Day Again

Hi!  Welcome to my Monday at Exploring Cricut.  For today's project I was thinking of the wedding invitations that are making the rounds as June approaches.  I've wanted to use the gazebo on the Spring Cottage cartridge for a while now and this gave me the perfect reason.

I had fun with this.  The gazebo, as I said, is from the Spring Cottage cartridge.  The couple are from Paper Doll Dress Up.  The leafy vines are from Holiday Cakes and some glitter glue in red suggests flowers or berries.  The doves and "Congratulations" are also from the Holiday Cakes cartridge. It's hard to see in the photo, but touches of glitter are added to the bride's veil, headdress, and bouquet, and on the doves' wings.  The sparkle really livens it up.  This card came out so "cutesy" it makes me laugh.

Keep visiting Exploring Cricut for daily inspiration.  On May 6 we will be having a Mother's Day Blog Hop and hope you will participate.  See you then.

A Flower Challenge at Exploring Cricut

Hello Everyone!  Are you getting a taste of spring yet?  To keep you in the mood for spring our challenge asks you to create a card, layout, or project that contains a flower.  I created this tag.
I used Cricut Flower Shoppe to create the flowers, Picturesque to cut the tag (at 3 inches), the reinforcer for the hole and the leaves. and Cindy Loo for the swirls.  The quote is from a Close to My Heart set that I bought at the recent stamping show.  It's called Woman Quotes.  This one is Mae West who states, "Too much of a good thing is wonderful."  I think that applies to flowers.

Please join us with your project at Exploring Cricut.  We look forward to seeing your creations.

Happy creating.

My Day at Exploring Cricut

First, I'd like to share that I had a great time this weekend at our once-a-year Scrapbooking and Stamping Show.
Heirloom Productions brings this show each spring and I only live a few blocks away.  Talk about convenient!  I saved up so I could spend more than I usually do.  Most of my money went toward filling in my missing colors of distress ink pads and markers.  With the show's lower prices I really made each dollar count.  It was a most enjoyable weekend.
My project today was created for Earth Day which will be here soon.

The earth came from the Phrases cartridge and the tree came from the Cindy Loo cartridge.  The tiny bird I cut out from a picture I found; the white flower and the background paper and corners came from my stash.  The tree is on foam dots to add dimension.
Please continue to visit Exploring Cricut for daily inspiration from out design team and a new challenge next Monday.

It's a New Challenge at Exploring Cricut

Welcome to our newest challenge.  For this one we ask you to create a card, layout, or project that contains AT LEAST one button, two cricut cuts, and 3 colors of paper, with an emphasis on SPRING.

I created this step card.  Flowers were the first thing that came to mind, especially tulips, and then I thought of flying kites.

The button is the decoration in her hair.
I used cuts from 5 different cartridges:
the girl is from Paper Doll Teen Scene
the tulips are from Spring Cottage
the fence is from Paper Doll Dress Up
the grass and kite are from Everyday Paper Dolls
and, the phrase "flying HIGH" is from 3 Birds on Parade.
Most of the papers are from Recollection packs.
The kite is on a piece of wire which I attached to the backs of the cuts with Glossy Accents.

I really like how it turned out.
I can't wait to see what your project will be.  Go to Exploring Cricut to see what the rest of the design team has done.  Then, enter your creation, too.
Have fun creating.

My Monday at Exploring Cricut

Hello, again.  I hope everyone who celebrates Easter had a very happy and blessed day.

For today's project I wanted to do a quick and simple card because of the many things going on around the holiday.  For as simple as it looks it was more tricky than I expected, but I like how it turned out.

The cartridge I used was Spring Cottage.  There are other flowers on this cartridge as well: tulips, a hyacinth, and a group of blue flowers- but I wanted the daffodils to coax spring into really coming.
I did some pattern piecing to get the stems different from the leaves.  Everything was edged with vintage photo distress ink.  I used the cuttlebug embossing folder, Victoria.  The sentiment is from a Papertrey set, stamped with vintage photo ink.  At first I planned on a plain ribbon and bow but it didn't look right to me so I got out the glitz; a bow would've looked overdone so I just edged it with a thin piece of the same paper I used for the leaves.  I am happy with it and it makes me think 'spring'.

Thank you for looking in.  Please continue to visit Exploring Cricut each day for great inspiration. Join us next Monday for another challenge.

Happy creating.
